Fab for my business May 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Mr Site has been my saviour! I wanted to set up a shop for my clothes store and was quoted thousands. My friend told me about Mr Site, used it herself and was raving about it, so I thought I'd give it a go. I couldn't be happier. It looks really professional, no one can believe I made it myself. The shop is easy to use and I've noticed that my site has moved up Google after I'd used the Siteboost tools. Any little questions I had were answered really quickly by the support team. Don't throw your money at a Web Designer, do it yourself with Mr Site because the results really are good. I'll be recommending this to all my mates.
Mr Site! More like Mr Waste of time! April 9, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is a very poor product and is marketed as something special! You can get free versions of similar software off the internet for making a website that looks like a moron has made it! You won't be able to produce anything respectable with Mr Site so I advise you to stay clear! Obviously as it was so cheap I thought I'd give it a go over getting a professional but I really wouldn't bother!
Too many drawbacks March 29, 2008 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
This product looks good but there appear to be a number of serious drawbacks which are not obvious at first sight. While it is possible to hide your website from public view during the initial building, any later enhancements will have to be done to the 'live' site. So if you screw it up... tough. If you mess up 'version 2' of your site, there will be no automatic backup of the last working version - not a good basis for building an e-commerce, or any other complex, website! If all you want is a simple site, it looks fine but you might just as well use the basic version for a fraction of the price. The rather ungrammatical and mis-spelled response to a query didn't inspire me with confidence either!!
Awesome little box! March 23, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Mr Site Pro has been fantastic. I've built my own website in a matter of days and I've already started trading online! There's a great choice of templates and I have been able to incorporate my own graphics into the site as well to make it look my own. Definitely a great little web site builder and I would recommend it to everyone.
Award for most annoying and user-unfriendly product ever March 12, 2008 16 out of 20 found this review helpful
Despite actually working for a web design company I recommended Mr Site to my husband who has a small business and needed a simple website. In terms of functionality, it wasn't worth paying a 'proper' company or developer to do the work....or so it seemed. One week after buying Mr Site, we have both spend hours and hours trying to format stuff (it makes Windows crash repeatedly, we can only use it with Firefox) and the test site still looks absolutely terrible. The issue is, if you have a corporate identity/look and feel already - ie. logo/letterheads/a colour palette etc then it's next to impossible to then reflect this using any of the templates that Mr Site provides. Then, trying to personalise any of the site - eg. the top banner, has been a nightmare - involving graphic designers repeately creating graphics to the exact spec provided only for it to pixelate and go totally wacky once uploaded. In essence - if you have no experience and pretty low standards, you might actually be okay using Mr Site, especially if you have no visual style established for your company and can use the website to create one - from which you then generate your stationary and other marketing material. If you have a look and feel and reasonable expectations of the kind of quality you want at the end - it's incredible badly designed and not worth the money at all. We're going to try and get a refund - in terms of time, it's cost us days and just isn't worth it. Better off giving the money to a real human being - a web developer - than the annoying Mr Site!
