4 out of 5 stars Norton Nuisance   May 24, 2007

This is a good product when you fully configure it, but its getting to those settings that are the problems, its as if they dont want you to get to them but when you do and you get everything configured it runs perfectly with minimal interuption, one problem i did have was networking between my Vista based laptop and my XP based desktop, so i had to download a tool from microsoft and configure settings in Norton that were getting blocked.

In Summary

its a good product does what it says i would recommend it but it can be quite tricky to configure, works likea dream when configured well though

1 out of 5 stars Avoid   May 15, 2007

I bought this a month ago and installed it on my home desktop. It functions well but is VERY disruptive when it comes to how the PC operates. I've turned off the live update function as it runs frequently and automatically, hogging system resources and slowing the PC to a crawl for some time. Other Norton fuctions do the same from time to time. Start up also takes an age. Norton is notorious for these problems and if you look on Google you'll find this corroborated. I run McAfee on my laptop and that gives no problems at all. (...)

5 out of 5 stars Nortons still way ahead   May 13, 2007

Norton is one of the best names in internet security, and this is there best product they have produced. It is easy to install and after installation it looks after itself. It is ideal for both beginers and advanced users, with antivirus, antispyware, antiphishing, rootkit detection, intrusion prevention and a two-way firewall it does what it says on the tin.
This product is great value for money,ok. the packaging could have been smaller and so could the packaging that Amazon repackaged the product in,but this is an enviromental issue.

4 out of 5 stars So far so good   May 11, 2007

I have used Norton Antivirus since 1998 in it's various guises. Norton Internet Security 2007 is a very powerful programme that means a fairly time consuming installation and it pays to check that your system meets the minimum requirements. I found that my HP CD Writer (2000 vintage!) would not read the CD. I had to fit a newer 52x LG CD-ROM to solve that problem. I installed this on both a PC (Win XP running on a 1.4GHz processor with 640mb RAM) and a laptop (WinXP running on 1.2GHz processor with 256mb RAM). The laptop installation was slower but I followed the instructions and all went smoothly. I did not do the recommended scan during installation but rather left it running later after installation. Time taken before the scan was about 45 mins. I ran the Live Update and scan later which takes a lot longer. Best to set it up and go out! Once installed it has worked well. In my opinion this latest product seems to be one of the better from Symantec in the last three years. I have always found that renewing ones subscription is always more expensive than purchasing the latest Norton from Amazon and with the added option of three users on this product, is perfect for a family home with up to three PC's. So far so good.

5 out of 5 stars What's the problem?   March 30, 2007

This reveiw is amied for all those computers users out there who have serious issues/concerns regarding Norton Internet Secuirty 2007
This software must be THE best Internet Security package on the maket. I myself have being using this product ( all-be-it different versions ) ever since I can remember and not once have I had any issues. I continually read and hear about folks who find it irritatingly slow when surfing or playing games over the net, not picking up viruses, spam and even compatibility issues with Windows Vista ( just buy NIS 2007 and at the point where Vista tells you that there are compatibility issues, download the latest version from Symantec's site, install it and use the product key that came with the bought version. Job done!).
It automatically downloads the latest virus patters and files, constantly scans your machine for little nasties like viruses and spam ( hence, depending on your computer spec is the reason why surfing the net may be slow ) and it warns yhou of any changes that may be harmful. Ok...this can be a little annoying, but what would you rather? A package that continually protects your machine or one that does not? The choice is yours.
