We bought this for our 5 year old daughter who absolutely loves it. There is a lot to do, easy to follow instructions, fun learning, great games and much more. In fact she is now 6 and still plays and we are about to buy her the Year 2 CD. Highly recommended

I have two children and I bought the Jump Ahead Year 1 Triple Pack for them when they were 4 and 5. It was the first time that they had used a computer before, but they had no trouble getting used to using the keyboard and mouse with this software.
For an adult, the sound and animation quality isn't very impressive, but for my children, they found the software at once captivating and enjoyable. It was (and still is) hard to stop them playing even after an hour or so.
All three titles superbly combine entertainment and education. Very clear explanations are given for all the activities and there are a surprisingly large number of these.
Furthermore, a quality that I particularly like is that the activities, although sometimes hard, are never demotivating, i.e. no-one fails if they are not good enough: If they keep at it they will always get through to the end and learn something along the way. This is an aspect that not all educational software addresses. For example, there are no frustrating races against the clock to get something finished and if something is answered incorrectly then there is always another chance to get it right.
After a few weeks of using this software both of my children showed remarkable progress on basic reading and mathematics skills. I can't recommend this software enough!
jump ahead - fun to play April 23, 2008

I bought this to help my 6 year old in maths and reading and installed the first disc on the PC (XP) when they weren't around. I had a quick play and didn't like it and was regretful of my purchase. However, the next day my son saw the icon on the desktop, clicked it, and started playing it.My 6 and 4 year old have played it every day since! Seems like they love it and they are now onto the third disc.
There are things to collect like medals, milk caps and tickets which get you to play the games in order to receive the rewards and unravel the next stage in the story.

Excellent package which worked well on my old XP PC, my daughter loved doing the fractions, however, I bought her a laptop with Vista - only to find the Jump Ahead sound doesn't work on it !
This is the comment from the software company's web site "This is a known issue when running this title on Windows Vista. Unfortunately there is no way around this at present and the developers have no plans to resolve this issue." So keep on XP or buy something else !

I bought this for my daughter's 6th birthday. She absolutely loves it. She comes home from school, turns the computer on and plays it all evening - only to stop for dinner and toilet breaks!!! It has definitely helped her to learn new skills. Even my 4 year old daugher has shown an interest in it and tries to play on it. With 3 separate discs, you can chop and change depending on what you want to do. I'm really glad I got this for my daughter and wish I'd got it a year ago. If your child likes using computers and has the patience, they will love this software.
