Amazon.co.uk Review There are so many superlatives one could use to describe Reader Rabbit Nursery that "excellent" seems hardly good enough. It is generally accepted that children learn through interacting with people and by playing. This package helps children, in a stimulating and playful manner, to learn concepts that are crucial and necessary for reading, maths, science, crticial thinking and creative thinking. This is done by providing play activities that are appropriate for each level and stage of development. The package is aimed at 3-5 year olds, but help and supervision is necessary. It includes two discs: "Reader Rabbit's Personalised Nursery" and the "Personalised Learning Centre". The Personalised Nursery uses ADAPT Learning Technology--a system that continually adjusts the learning programme to suit each player's growing abilities, thereby building up a child's confidence and skills and hopefully a lifelong love of learning: - A--assesses abilities
- D--develops skills
- A--adjusts levels
- P--provides help
- T--tracks progress
The games and activities featuring Reader Rabbit and his friends provide opportunities to extend skills in the following fields: letter names and sounds, numbers and counting, matching, simple maths, shapes and colours, memory, patterns and classification, noticing differences, logic and prediction, listening, vocabulary-building and creativity. The "Personalised Learning Centre" is a unique program that lets teachers and parents see and monitor each player's progress. Personalised workbooks and activities based on each personal progress are offered, as are printable reward certificates. Also included is an excellent, 33-page comprehensive booklet explaining all aspects of the package in great detail. Particularly helpful is a section entitled "trouble shooting" with guidance on simple problems that may be encountered. All in all, this is a first-class package that uses fascinating characters, excellent graphics and sound and stimulating and thought-provoking games and situations. The necessary levels of skill is fitted and adapted to your child's individual needs, but, broadly speaking, it supports National Curriculum Key Stage One in the UK. Easy to install and set up, Reader Rabbit Nursery is an excellent educational tool for children. --Susan Naylor

Well Worth it! April 15, 2002 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Brought this for my four year old, and she has fallen in love with it! It has helped her develop her phonics, counting, matching and sorting skills. The program keeps her interest for so long, I have to pry her away from the computer. Parents can monitor the progress, as the activities adapt to the childs increasing learning level. Also excellent printable workbooks to do at anytime, and printable reward certificates are a great encouragement - Highly recommend it!

I bought this package for my 3 year old following a review in the WHICH magazine October 2001. This package has music and dialogue provided by on-screen guides. My daughter loves the idea of playing the games and winning points to get a ticket to go on the rides. Reader Rabbit keeps my daughter's attention for thirty minutes plus at a time. There are some challenging games which my daughter was able to do in no time at all - even quicker than her parents at times!! Excellent for the development of mathematical skills, logic etc. as well as good fun. Highly recommend it.
