4 out of 5 stars Not for everyone, but very good for those who like interactive learning   December 14, 2007
I have been learning to play the guitar for many years and I've tried several techniques, from 'teach yourself' books to tutors and each has their good sides but they didn't entirely suit how I like to learn. When I picked up 'Guitar Hero' last year I thought the interactive nature of that game would be perfect for learning to play - it suited my style of learning: hands-on but with the ability to go over any aspect of anything I'm doing, as fast or as slow as I want, whenever I want. This software comes from a similar vein.

I've only been using it for a short time but I'm smitted with it already. It has its faults, I'll freely admit that, (it assumes you already know either how to read music or how to read tablature - you can learn these quickly and freely over the Internet, however) but these are overcome if you give it time.

This isn't software that everyone will find works for them. For some people, teach yourself books will be better and for most, nothing will beat an individual tutor; but even then, I think there's something here that will be a useful addition to your learning, even if it's just the range of music available and the video tutorials.

This is ok....but just ok, I found it fairly difficult to navigate and would have been happier with something simpler.I bought a book on teaching yourself guitar as well and this has won over the software I'm afraid!!!!
