Oh dear November 28, 2008 OK, I admit to being a bit of a technophobe but I got this for my husband who is much more savvy than I am.
After disappearing downstairs and leaving him to it for several hours I was then treated to a grumbling, complaining man in the doorway of the livingroom holding an empty box in disgust.
In a nutshell, he found that while the installation was fairly straightforward, actually trying to get DVDs onto his iPod touch was not. We are going on holiday shortly and he was looking forward to downloading some films for the flight but this software didn't appear to be very helpful.
I have been asked to give this one star which is a shame as I really thought that this would be a great product when I ordered it.
Take away that one star November 27, 2008 This product sounds fantastic on paper and it got off to a rather promising start. Installation was very simple and straight forward. It's a shame that that was all that was simple and straight-forward about this.
Like many of the other other reviewers I couldn't get this software to actually do anything. I tried using both DVDs I'd bought and DVDs of short films I'd made at university but as soon as you put a disc in, the whole thing basically freezes up. I spent over an hour trying to getting somewhere but eventually just gave up.
To sum up, it's rubbish.
Doesn't Do What You Want It To Do! November 26, 2008 Thought I would give this a try with my iPod Touch as use it a lot for watching films on.
The software is quite simple to use, however all I will say is don't bother buying this if you are wanting to convert DVD films as it will not do them. Any Copy Right Protected DVD's will not be converted, so that means nearly everything you would really want converting!
I use some free software which rips the DVD to my PC and then use another FREE programme to convert the DVD to use on my iPod Touch.
Not worth buying as you just won't get the use out of it, as will do nothing you really want to do apart from convert your own movies for example.
Poor, Poor performance November 22, 2008 I am one of those who likes to watch my DVD collection on my ipod. I thought that this was a legitimate way to convert my DVD collection to do just that. How wrong I was. Not only does this software perform poorly but it will not convert ANY encrypted movie! So, once again, I'm treated like a common criminal when all I want to do is watch my movie on my ipod.
Very poor.
Fantastic Piece Of Software November 20, 2008 X-OOM Movies on iPod 2 will record and transfer any web-TV shows onto an iPod(tm) or iPhone(tm), to avoid missing favourite programmes. The software searches through over 1000 sports, music, comedy and entertainment channels, as well as sites such as YouTube and MySpace, so programmes and clips can be downloaded to an iPod(tm) or iPhone(tm) in just a few clicks. There is also the option to regularly subscribe to the 1000 frequently updated video podcasts, to ensure favourite shows aren't lost.
An integrated media library provides a helpful solution for collectively viewing all video files stored on a computer. The library includes customisable pre-defined settings, to allow straightforward transfer and modification of video clips. X-OOM Movies on iPod 2 also includes the option to rip just the audio from a video file, so favourite music from films and TV programs can be saved and listened to when on the move.
The program is easy to navigate and such a good idea. I would heartily recommend it to anyone.
