A must for any Web site developer, but needs updating August 29, 2008
Webstyle is that rarity amongst software, a program that has had no development for several years, but still is an essential buy. It doesn't matter what level of skill you have at Web site development, Webstyle will save you days of design time, and in the end produce a site that is professional, distinctive, and functional. Let's get one thing straight, this is not yet another WYSIWYG site development tool like Dreamweaver. It is a graphic design tool to help get you through the initial hurdle of designing your site, complete with navigation. You then import this into your development software and simply add the content. Essentially, it is a very superior template designer, with every aspect of the template easily customisable. If you buy the optional templates (well worth it), you will have the capacity to build an infinite number of original templates for the cost of a couple of professionally designed ones. Xara was taken over a couple of years ago and development has concentrated on the wonderful Xara Xtreme graphics package. Although Webstyle is a good buy as it is, it would benefit from explicit support for MS Expression Web, for example, and possibly Ajax support.
