4 out of 5 stars Lovely piece of kit   August 22, 2007

I bought my Graphire a couple of years ago and it's still going strong. I use it mainly within Photoshop, for retouching photographs and for sketching/drawing. The retouching - given, I could do that with a mouse, but Graphire is much more intuitive and accurate. The drawing would just be impossible to do without a graphics tab, so for me it's worth the money and more. As I have not used other Wacom tabs I cannot compare directly, but the sensitivity of the pad is superb. If the others are more sensitive, then so much the better. I find this more than adequate for even fine detail. What I had not appreciated before my purchase was the way the tab can act as a replacement for the mouse in general use if need be. As my wireless mouse has a habit of chewing batteries, for most of the time now I use the tablet. For all but a few applications (FPSs spring to mind) it's at least as easy if not more so than mouse. Much more natural position for your hand, as well, so I find less RSI-strain. Overall this is easily worth the investment for an entry-level tab. Even two years on I have had no reason to think of upgrading.

5 out of 5 stars very impressed, no going back!!!   May 10, 2007

Ive been a graphic designer for a company for over 15 years and I've always been a die hard mouse fan, I had seen tablets before but wasn't convinced. I however wanted to give them a try as I'd like to do some basic illustrating, I didn't want to spend a lot just in case they were rubbish - how wrong I was. As soon as I picked the pen up I was drawing with ease, it just felt so natural and unrestrictive. I use photoshop a lot both at work and home and the tablet is amazing for repetitive jobs like masking etc (try masking hair with a mouse - its a nightmare) its so quick and fluid. I have created some lifelike pictures in photoshop,I could never have achieved this with a mouse. I wanted the tablet mainly for animation within flash so the tablet size isn't an issue as most of the stuff is web based but if you are keen to get into serious painting and illustrating I would definetly recommend a larger tablet and go for a intuos if you can afford one (they are far more sensitive).

You still can't beat a mouse for precision elements such as lines and shapes but for freestyle and sketching its an essential tool that you'll wonder how you ever managed without.

Give one a try - you won't be disappointed. Hope this helped

5 out of 5 stars first time user, first class product   March 27, 2007

This is my first graphics tablet and I was concerned that I would not find it worth the price. However, I am pleased to say that I found it intuitive and very easy to set up and use. I utilise it for photogarphy and my 11 year old daughter loves using it for artwork.
It does all the things that you can read about in other reviews and importantly for me as a family user, you do not have to bin your pc's wired mouse. It lives along side the Graphire4 tablet without any problem. Therefore, you don't have to buy the Wacom mouse if you don't want to!

4 out of 5 stars Undoubtedly good quality   December 4, 2006

This pen is without a doubt, the finest Tablet on the market for your money. If, like my friend Ian, you cannot draw, don't jank 60 sheets on it. If you can draw (better than stick figures or have mastered the art of not drawing the grass and sky as a green and blue line at the top and bottom of the page) then this will be worth every penny.

5 out of 5 stars A creatives dream   October 27, 2006

This is my first graphics tablet, I had my apprehensions at first thinking it wouldnt live up to my expectations...but it far surpasses them! Its simply a dream to use, if you use photoshop and like to draw you NEED one of these, full stop. Its so intuitive within the adobe application its inspiring (and thats just straight out of the box, I havent even got into the assignable buttons and keys yet). The pressure sensitivity is great if your used to sketching on a 'real world' pad, all it takes is a few tweaks in the brush editor and away you go, its also great simply as a replacement mouse, I find navigating the desktop and general PC use as easy as with a mouse. I thought the A6 size might be a limitation at first but now, after using it, I think the A5 size would be too much (depending on how you work of course). Ive read reviews that complain about the possitioning of the buttons on the pen, they take getting used to (depending on how you like to hold your pens) but the fact is that if your drawing or sketching in photoshop (or whatever application) you dont need to have your fingers on the buttons to work it and can hold the stylus as close to the tip as you like, ive found myself using brushes and pencil tools in ways i'd only ever imagined possible before. The build feels solid and looks stylish, even if it broke tomorrow i'd buy another. KILL MICE, LONG LIVE THE STYLUS!!
