Impressive SW May 19, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I struggled at the beginning with this SW, but this was due to to faults of my own, I know nothing about accounting, and I made a couple of fundamental setup errors. The email support people responded in 7 hours, not bad, but a while considering the simplicity of my mistake.
OK so now I'm up and running. It seems very straight forward and easy to use even for someone who is a real novice at accounts.
The Manual is approx 200 pages and an easy read. The initial SW setup wizard is really useful for getting it installed.
The difficulties for me are: (1) The manual is a little weak for the accounts novice installing and setting up for the first time. (2) The SW benefits from a larger monitor, my 1024 x 768 is not really enough.
User friendly accounts - about time! January 12, 2008 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I recently purchased this product and went on the training course. I have a good idea about accounts but did not understand any of the jargon associated with most packages, and quite frankly couldn't be bothered to learn them either. The Business Accountz package deals simply with the short falls of most other packages and cuts out all the unnecessary time inputing into different fields, and tells you exactly what you need to know in plain english, no jargon. Hurray!
This package is great for sole traders and SME's if you do not want to learn all the boring side of accounts, yet have to do them for the tax and VAT man.
If you are a large corporation I would seriously look into this package as it could save you an awful lot of money in reduced training, manpower hours, and errors.
New patches are coming out all the time to make the package even better, and the training day is extremely useful. On the training day I discovered loads of really useful tips to do with accounting including one that will save me 600+ pa. For a one off payment of 200, that is a pretty good investment.
Value for money? Certainly Superior after sales support? Definately User friendliness? Top of the class Best value? Absolutely
Here's the really good thing about it - it is a product developed and produced in the UK - WOW!
NO ITEMS & PRICING LIST FOR INVOICE SALES October 28, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I was disappointed to find that Business Accountz as purchased has no facility for forming a sales item list and pricing in creating invoices which automatically calculate number, item subtotal, and total price. It has to be calculated and entered manually and therefore doesn't turn up in reports. This seems a serious omission in a program that advertises 'invoicing'. I did receive a quick response to my e-mail query (good support) and was assured the matter would be addressed in the next patch update; or I could buy a more expensive version. If the patch doesn't turn up soon, I've wasted my money and will migrate elsewhere. I am an artist and sole trader with a small art print business.
What a brilliant small business tool. October 16, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I run a pet shop on the Isle of Wight, I wanted to use business accountz for my business as I had used personal accounts for my home accounts, however when I took over the business it wasn't ready and we had to use something. So we picked MYOB, my business partner spent ages setting it up and it was a nightmare....I mean a nightmare, one window for this...one window for that, it was ages before we could even enter a transaction.
Anyway to cut a long story short, my business partner left the business in search of other opportunities and I was left to take over the accounts, well I just couldn't get on with the current software, I struggled and struggled and was even considering going back to paper books. And I found out that Business Accountz finally ready, and I took the chance after all it couldn't be any worse than the one I had been using.
All I can say is ACCONTZ.COM you have saved my life, it is really really simple, once you have set it up and follow the tutorials you are up and running, and I have just sat and entered 6 months of figures in just 2 hours. Lets see what other software can achieve that!
This is a brilliant bit of software and I am recommending it to all of my friends with their own businesses as it will save them a fortune in accountant fees and save them loads of time, and we can spend it at the pub instead!
If you have a small business and you struggle with paper books or current software then do yourself a favour and buy this.
Innovative and Intuitive Product with First Class Support August 11, 2007 24 out of 25 found this review helpful
I am an Apple Mac user and while I could opt to run a Windows Accounting solution using Parallels virtualisation software, I prefer, where possible, to be able to run my applications on Mac OSX.
On the Mac the leading accounts package is probably MYOB. I took a look at their application but didn't like it. It seemed dated and the support desk told me that they had no current plans to update it to run as a Universal application. This means it would have to run under Rosetta emulation on my Intel Macs and that is not ideal.
Accountz was being advertised in Mac User magazine and came up in a few searches on the internet. The reviews were all good. It is Java based so it is actually possible to run the same application on Mac OSX, Windows and on Linux. I liked the option to change platform if need be and to be able to take my application (and data) with me.
The product took a little while for me to get used to. I am NOT an accountant, I have an IT background, but had to rapidly get to grips with bookkeeping having become the joint owner of a small company. Thankfully the 'Chart of Accounts' in Accountz mirrors the tax return for either a sole trader or a Partnership so that already starts to make life a little easier.
The product takes away the need to comprehend the traditional debits and credits of double entry bookkeeping. Instead you simply think about where the money is to come From and where it is to go To . Conceptually this is MUCH easier to grasp.
I was up and running in very little time but I did have a few questions, primarily regarding how to do certain things the right way. Most of my questions stemmed from my lack of any formal accounting background and consequent lack of confidence. Thankfully Accountz provide access to an online forum. My questions were taken seriously, even if I did sometimes feel a little dumb asking them. The response time was fantastic and when I remained unclear on how best to proceed, they were more than happy to enter into an exchange of dialogue until they were certain I was comfortable about how best to proceed.
I can enthusiastically endorse both the product and the excellent ongoing support. It's an innovative product and I hope it goes from strength to strength.
