5 out of 5 stars Kaspersky Anti-virus 2009 continues to offer top protection   November 26, 2008
I started using Kaspersky from Version 6, after becoming dissatisfied with the way some other security vendors had turned their software into Bloatware. Mcafee is an example of security software, that tries to be the Jack of all trades, but is the master of none, while crippling performance. Kaspersky does what it says on the box and protects against Malware without all the Gimmicks. I was impressed with both Versions 6 and 7, but could Kaspersky Anti-virus 2009 live up to these high standards?

Installation of Kaspersky Anti-virus 2009 went trouble free and quick, I then just had to enter my key code and Customer ID/password, so I could start using the software. The first thing I noticed was Kaspersky appears to be even lighter than Version 7 on System resources, which is a huge plus. Ever since Kaspersky version 6 I have never noticed any slowdowns, so 2009 keeps this trend. On opening the software, the Interface looks more slick, but still familiar to earlier versions which is nice. One feature that is especially good for beginners is the Auto option, so the software will take the appropriate action, if it detects a threat. The proactive defence feature will help detect suspicious behaviours, but may occasionally report legitimate files that are of no threat, but it thinks are suspicious.

Every review and tests I have seen, usually puts Kaspersky at the top when it comes to the detection of Malware. No software detects 100%, but Kaspersky does a great Job considering other well known vendors struggle with detection, especially spyware threats and the rising threat of Fake Anti-spyware, Anti-Virus programs, that only want peoples credit card details.

Kasperky Anti-virus 2009 is highly recommended.

1 out of 5 stars Can't install it, customer service non-existent   November 16, 2008
I have just purchased this, given all the good reviews. However, the installation process stops at a certain point(when the application config. wizard should appear)with no indication of the problem. There are no onscreen prompts and no troubleshooting section in the manual to help diagnose the problem. The customer service is a farce. The email address for technical support is wrong; I couldn't log onto any of the support websites and the automated phone service is 'manned' by a robot. Buyer, be very aware.

1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!   October 31, 2008
This is the most cack-handed piece of software I have ever seen. It does not even recognise it's own activation code. The hugely advertised telephone support is just a voice mail redirecting you to the on-line help. I was actually gullible enough to send them an email, and in 10 days I have not received anything remotely useful. They simply kept spamming me with more ridiculous demands to buy their malfunctioning products.

4 out of 5 stars cool   October 10, 2008
Good product.Works well without glitches of any description.I replaced Norton anti-virus software with the Kaspersky as the Norton was causing serious issues with my PC.

The Kaspersky runs like a dream. Give it a try. Soon.

4 out of 5 stars Great product at a great price   September 25, 2008
Kaspersky anti-virus has always had fairly good reviews from the UK computer press for as long as I can remember. In my experience its virus detection rate is far better than Norton. This latest version doesn't disappoint, as it's quick and doesn't eat up resources like some competing anti virus software can.

As of writing, the full "internet security" suite is actually cheaper than this anti-virus only package, which is strange. However, not everyone will want the full internet-security suite, preferring to install a different firewall. Using separate standalone anti-virus will give you more flexibility mix and match.

I think the package price which includes 3 licences is extremely good value.
