5 out of 5 stars Want the latest laptop? Here's how to get it for a fiver   December 1, 2008
Christmas is coming so save your cash! Why purchase something you can get for a fiver.

Go to gifts4xmas.co.cc and sign up. Complete ONE offer- I would recommend Gala Bingo (you know, the one Sharon Osborne advertises for on tv),as this is cheap and fun (and you might win some money in the process!)

If you really don't want to spend, there is a free Lovefilm trial.

All companies are well known so there is no risk involved- give it a go! I got my laptop and many other things this way, so don't miss out.

I was a sceptic once but now I am SO glad I gave it a chance. B8C approved this system on their Newsnight programme a while back.

Many items to choose from and They send your gift Free of charge

Enjoy!

4 out of 5 stars Great laptop shame about the Vista   September 18, 2008

Having recently purchased one of these from Amazon I am able to offer the following comments.

This is a great value for money laptop, the display is particularly impressive.

The only reason it gets 4 stars rather than five is the garbage known as Microsoft Vista Home Premium software which Acer in their wisdom chose to install on it.No one forced them to do so therefore they are responsible for the 4 out of 5 rating.

If you get one do yourself a favour and upgrade to Windows 98

Better still Windows 2000 or XP.

4 out of 5 stars a simple girl   September 12, 2008

I had this lap top for my birthday, it's great for my simple uses! The only problem is some of my keys appear to be on the wrong way round displaying incorrect characteristics, and I can't find my pound sign!!!

5 out of 5 stars Ace kit for the price, even for a couple of hundred extra   September 11, 2008

300 for a 17" laptop with Vista Premium - at this time it's a pretty awesome deal, free delivery on top.

My first laptop as I generally use desktops but have borrowed other peoples laptops so can make a comparison.

I'm assuming that many of the previous complaints are just about ignorance of the specs and inability to understand the simple instructions on how to use it, or they were supplied with a defective item which with Amazon is easy to replace, however annoying.

The 17" screen is top notch, very good picture and I can't fault it.

I can type fast and find the keyboard is good, firm with appropriate bounce and all in all easy to type with.

The speakers are loud enough for me, certainly not home theatre but clear and loud enough to hear things when there is background noise.

I like the look of the laptop and have no complaints about the material it is made out of as it keeps the weight down.

It boots fast and is ready to use very quickly, even before I loaded the 4gb of RAM I ordered along with the laptop.

The RAM slots are flimsy plastic but they do work after a fashion (not a fan of them at all) and as long as you are not regularly changing things (who would be) then its not a problem.

First time with Vista, its ok I like the look of it but it will take some getting used to I suppose, thats progress :-)

There is plenty of space to rest your hands on although the touch pad is a little big and I found my left hand thumb sometimes resting on it but have now got used to it stopping the cursor moving while typing.

I will be using this for my business, surfing and emails mainly and so far for the couple of weeks I have had it - I am very impressed....

It comes ready to use from the box and really could not be easier to set up.

For 300 its a steal and should not be missed.

I also took advantage of the Vista Ultimate Upgrade for 30 package which I have now installed on my older desktop (XP).

Ace kit for the price, even for a couple of hundred extra still would have been a good deal.
