5 out of 5 stars There are Currently 6 Windows Home Server Books - So is this one any Good?   May 19, 2008

Well as I have said there are currently 6 Windows Home Server (WHS) books on the market and i'v read them all (yikes). So is the User's Guide from author Andrew Edney any good?
Yes, Yes and Yes. What Andrew has managed to do is write a complete guide of getting the most out of your Windows Home Server. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro there is something for you within the books 300+ pages.
Starting with what WHS is (just in case you didn't know), Andrew then takes us in detail, through the features of the product including how to install and most importantly the steps you should follow once installation has finished.
Andrew also includes a network primer and details on how to build your own Windows home Server as well.
Thoroughly recommended and defiantly one of the best WHS books currently on the market.

This book is well researched and the author really knows his stuff. It has lots of illustrations and takes you step by step through setting up Windows Home Server. It can be used to find some of the more hidden features as well as a good reference guide.
Well written and enjoyable!

5 out of 5 stars Great book to get started with Windows Home Server   January 19, 2008

This is a well illustrated book which will let the reader get started with Windows Home Server. It guides them through installing, configuring and how to use the Windows Home Server within your home network.

The book covers how to setup users accounts, backup and restore you home PCs using the home server, share files, stream media, access your files remotely and monitor the health of your home computers. It also includes some useful explanations on home networking terms and tips if you wish to build your own home server. Recommended.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Book   January 1, 2008

This book covers everything you need to know to build and use a Windows Home Server. It got me through a number of problems with remote access that may have taken me days to sort! Buy this book if you buy a home server, you wont be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Windows Home Server book   November 10, 2007

I just got the Windows Home Server OEM software and decided to get a book as well - there were currently only 2 choices, both of which looked good, but I went for this one as it was cheaper than the other. This one is very detailed with lots of clear pictures and steps for doing everything you could possibly want to do, including setting up remote access, which I had problems with until I read the book. That alone made it worth the money! The book itself is split up into many chapters, each covering a specific area of the product in great detail, that way if you dont want to use part of it, you can skip the chapter. Also has lots of hints and tips and things to watch out for. Well worth adding to your collection if you have or are thinking of getting Windows Home Server.
